The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey.
Independence
The First Three Habits surround moving from dependence to independence (i.e., self-mastery):
- Habit 1: Be Proactive -be confident with the ball and attack/defend with purpose.
- Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind - visualize what you want to achieve on the field, then make it happen.
- Habit 3: Put First Things First - take care of your own responsibilities and then help others.
Interdependence
The next three habits talk about Interdependence (e.g. working with your teammates)
- Habit 4: Think Win-Win - you can create great things by working together as a team.
- Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood -communication on and off the field are essential to accomplishing your goals.
- Habit 6: Synergize - success happens when the sum of the team is greater than that of the individual skill of each player.
Continuous Improvements
The final habit is that of continuous improvement in both the personal and interpersonal spheres of influence.
- Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw - balance and renew your resources, energy, and health to create a sustainable, long-term, effective improvements in your game.
